Crystal Solace is an independent, English-language guide to buying and caring for natural crystals. We research the mineral, we look at the price, we name the trade-offs — and we skip the marketing. This page explains who we are, how we work, and the editorial rules behind every guide.
Why this site exists
Most of what you find when you search for crystals is written to sell you something or to sell you a fantasy. Either the page is a storefront pretending to be advice, or it promises that a stone will heal, protect, or transform you — usually with a checkout button nearby.
We started Crystal Solace because buying a real crystal should not require a geology degree or a leap of faith. New buyers deserve plain answers to plain questions: is this stone real, is this price fair, will this size fit, how do I care for it. That is the gap we publish into, and it is the only content we will ever publish.
What we publish (and what we don’t)
Our guides cover the decisions that come up when you actually buy or own crystals:
- Choosing — which stones suit which people and occasions, and how to pick a form that fits a real life.
- Verifying — how to tell a natural stone from glass, resin, or treated material without special tools.
- Pricing — honest retail ranges by stone, size, and quality, so you can spot an inflated price.
- Caring — cleaning, storage, and the things that quietly damage stones.
- Meanings & birthstones — where the symbolism comes from and how it is traditionally used.
We do not currently sell crystals, and we do not accept paid placements or sponsored reviews. If that ever changes, the commercial side will be visibly separated from our editorial content — never woven into it.
How we research and write
Every guide separates three kinds of statements, because they need three different levels of care:
1. Mineral facts
Hardness, composition, what a stone actually is, and how common treatments work — statements like these come from established mineralogy references and industry practice, and we keep them conservative. When we say a stone can scratch or chip, we mean the physical property, not a warning about energy.
2. Prices
Price ranges in our guides are typical retail ranges observed across markets, not fixed market prices. They vary by stone, size, quality, treatment, and setting, and we say so wherever we quote numbers. We update them when the market moves, and we would rather understate a range than overstate it.
3. Symbolic meanings
When a guide mentions what a crystal “means,” we use precise framing: in crystal traditions, commonly associated with, often chosen as a symbol of. These are cultural and symbolic statements — real, but not medical or physical claims. We never dress them up as science.
Wellness claims: where we draw the line
Crystals are beautiful objects with real mineral properties and a long cultural history. They are not medicine, and no stone in any tradition replaces medical care.
Our rule: we will never claim that a crystal heals, cures, protects from illness, or treats any condition. If you are dealing with a health issue — physical or mental — please talk to a qualified professional. We would rather lose a reader than mislead one.
This is also why our gift and meaning guides lean on symbolism and tradition rather than “healing energies.” A rose quartz pendant given to a friend carries a genuine message of care without us pretending it does something to their body.
Independence and money
Crystal Solace has no owner, advertiser, or crystal retailer telling us what to write. We are not paid to rank one stone or one shop above another, and no guide on this site exists to push a product. Our recommendations are based on what a thoughtful buyer would want to know, full stop.
If we later add clearly-labeled commercial links — the kind that fund independent publishing — they will be marked as such, and they will never change a verdict. If a stone is a poor value at a given price, we will say so even when a store pays us to exist. That is the deal we make with you.
